I know we're all sick of this, so will be especially grateful
for help from anyone. The mysterious letter drop is back.
Background
----------
I had been creating PDFs without a problem,
no dropped letters, etc... and then came the announcement
of the new PostScript driver 4.3 for Windows 95. Needing
to help coach my team on setting up Acrobat, I deleted
my existing Postscript drivers and downloaded the new
driver. I figured this way I could step through the process,
prove that it works to my own satisfaction, then pass on
the procedure.
Here's what I did
-----------------
1. Downloaded the file aps4eng.exe (with the new 4.3
driver) from Adobe's web site.
2. Ran the above setup utility to build a new printer
driver (not an update).
3. I used ADISTILL.PPD from the Acrobat3/Distillr/Xtras folder.
4. I selected \DISTASST.PS as the port and named the printer
"Distiller Assistant {AdobePS]"
5. In Postscript options, I selected "Optimize for Portability";
clicked the Advanced button and selected "Pure Binary Data."
6. For Fonts, I chose "Always use TrueType" and "Send fonts as Outlines"
(at first I had them send as type 42 with disastrous results).
Problem
-------
Now that I have done this, I have the problem everyone else
has complained about. Seems to be only in TT Fonts.
The word "Resource" comes out "Resour e" and
so on and so forth...
I know that PS fonts are wonderful, etc. but I need to be able
to use both.
Any suggestions? Anyone know what I did wrong? Note: I did NOT
do the 2015 fix thing since Dov says we don't need to do it anymore...
