All:
A couple of my colleagues are experiencing problems where screen dumps in
TIFF format are imported by reference into documents.
@ Copy or cutting a graphic imported by reference (GIBR) pastes in a
grey rectangle.
@ Importing a new graphic into a page that already contains graphics
causes the existing graphics to become grey but the new graphic to display.
@ Scrolling through a document causes the graphics to become grey.
FrameMaker does (did?) its own memory management, so these symptoms are
reminiscent of FM's behaviour when it is running out of memory. From
versions 3.0 to 5.0, there was also a memory leak across all platforms,
such that closing a document did not release its memory. Thus, over a
period of hours or days, depending on how many documents you opened or
closed, your PC gradually slowed to a crawl as memory was paged in and out.
So what's happening here? I thought the memory leak was fixed in 5.5.
[FrameMaker 7.0p576 (patch applied), Windows 2000 Professional, 256 Mb]
Regards,
Hedley
