Obviously, the third-party developers can't move on immediately, but they
may begin to curtail any new development/upgrades until they see which way
the wind blows. The single-source long-document/structured document market
is now low-hanging fruit for any company that decides to move in on
FrameMaker's turf. Maybe, as Dmitri Iounov suggest, Interleaf will rise
again like a Phoenix. Or maybe some outfit on the Linux front will see the
opportunity.
